Writing and Reading Gang Books

Not only do walls have to be filled with Art but shelves need to be filled with books. The Three guidebooks that started the Awakening in San Miguel are not enough to fill a shelf.  So Gangs have created as part of Getting Fully Acted a series of books to help members delve deeper into Gang Rituals.  These books range from simple books on each Gang to explanations of Art.

These books are sold in a secret book shop on Jesus.

  1. Just like motels have Gideon Bibles, every gringo home with a bookshelf has its mandatory titles. Mexico: A Higher Vision, both of Tony Cohan’s books about Mexico, Kate Simon’s book, The People’s Guide, a Lonely Planet or two, Gary Jennings’ Aztec, Diana Kennedy, Rick Bayless, Living Abroad in Mexico, Casa Mexicana, Mexican Colors, a Rough Guide, Ken Luboff’s Adapter Kit, and John Howells’ Choose Mexico.

Those who’ve lived there for more than two decades will have the complete set of the Shipway books on Mexican interior design and architecture.

David Lida, Malcom Lowery, Octavio Paz, C.M. Mayo, Jorge Castaneda, Alan Riding, and Andres Oppenheimer are limited to the homes of those who can actually read.

San Miguelenses have the Archie Dean book stashed by the phone book. Or in lieu thereof.
