Dear friends and family of Joe,
just to share a memory of Joe from his Paris days. A group of us were invited to a private concert at the ritz one December evening. Joe walked in with our friend Madeleine, looking very elegant. The pianist started to play summertime, and in the middle of the song, this woman stood up and started to sing. She was an over botoxed, has been, washed up opera diva with the most horrible voice. I was trying to keep a straight face, until I glanced over at Joe who made the most comical grimace. I burst out laughing and had to excuse myself from the room. The situation was hilarious, and Joe, as always, was himself. I will miss him!

I think you are hysterical. I live in San Miguel. Don’t know if I am in a gang.
I have a suggestion for a new gang……decorators who move into houses and live there rent-free in exchange for decorating your house…..but the catch is….they don’t leave.
Have you heard of this gang?
Maybe I’m the last to know.

It warms my heart to see al the tributes to Joe. And I’m happy to know his friends in Paris were informed of his passing. I met some of them here in San Miguel and they were delightful and colorful – just like JOE!

I knew Joe in Paris, and came out three times to see him in his beloved San Miguel.
I also remember ringing him from Australia to wish him a Happy New Year 2009, and he was so damned excited as no one had ever rung from Australia to wish him Happy New Year before!
Joe was very colorful, in every sense of the word, and also a HAPPY soul. People here in Paris are stunned by his passing, but you know what? Every one here agrees that when you think of Joe, you either laugh or smile.
So what better way to leave us… and what better way to have lived.

I met Joe in Paris some years ago when he used to commute between Paris & Mexico. He became such a good friend and I visited him in San Miguel two years ago. When he left Paris he left a huge Joe-shaped hole in our Paris world. I just found out from a friend that he passed away. One of the most generous lovely people I have ever met, I have some amazing memories of the things we used to get up to in Paris. He will be terribly missed.

I have never been to San Miguel though it sounds like a Mexican replica of the small town I am from….Nelson British Columbia in Canada….this article was the icing on the cake….check it out!
